Discovering the Hays Nature Preserve

Hi Everyone!

I would like to share some of my experiences and knowledge about art and nature.

My wife, Sue, and I love to go on long walks.  Our favorite places to visit are nature trails, the beach, and mountain paths. We usually pack our camera and sketchbooks in order to capture some of the beautiful scenery along the way.

Since moving to Huntsville, Alabama, from Florida five years ago, we have found several nature parks in the Huntsville area and will share these places with you.
One of our first discoveries is the largest Shellbark Hickory tree in the State of Alabama located in the Hays Nature Preserve.

Join me as I begin the process of drawing of this majestic tree.  From taking the reference photos to cutting the mats for the final drawing, I hope that you will enjoy sharing this experience of creating a view of nature in pen and ink.
